The VW factory transmission mount was designed as a soft mount flexible mount, to provide a very comfortable drive. It's drawback was the large amount of engine movement allowed under torque load and on hard acceleration. This engine "slop" greatly decreases stability and smoothness under high performance driving conditions and rapid gear selection.

The VW factory mount is hydraulic and constructed from rubber vulcanized onto a steel plate. The rubber cavity contains a viscous oil which dampens shock and vibration loaded onto the mount via the transmission. Typically over a period of time failure occurs when the rubber cracks leaking out the oil. VF-Engineers chose to redesign this mount by eliminating the oil and designing the mount using a single piece of polyurethane instead of rubber. The new design is setup for longevity and stability.

VF-Engineering designed tooled up and manufactured a complete new replacement containing a molded, high durometer polyurethane insert. The mount is constructed from billet aluminum and supplied with the highest tensile hardware available. Fitting should take no more than 30 minutes and is simplified if you support the gearbox and remove the bracket to the mount, This mount fits all some MK2 Golf/Jettas and all MK3 Golf, Jetta, Passat, Vento VR6 and 8V GTIs and Corrado VR6.

This high performance mount has been tested on a 2.8 VR6 and supercharged MK3 VR6 running 280 horsepower and provides a dramatic difference in the stability of the car when accelerating and braking hard. Gear changing under hard acceleration is also greatly enhanced. You will notice the difference
